Snedeker earns outright lead at Sony Open

After being part of a five-way tie on day one, Snedeker went bogey-free in the second round to take a one-stroke lead in Hawaii.

Snedeker, who was tied for third at the Tournament of Champions last week, continued his good form with five birdies at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

"I feel like I'm playing great, so it should be fun," Snedeker said afterwards as he bids to win an eighth PGA Tour title.

Fellow American Kevin Kisner is within touching distance of Snedeker on 11 under heading into the weekend.

Kisner converted a final-hole eagle for a four-under-par 66.

Zach Johnson (66), Luke Donald (65), Zac Blair (65) and Chez Reavie (63) are two shots off the pace.

American quartet Scott Piercy (66), Sean O'Hair (66), Jerry Kelly (66) and Morgan Hoffman (68), and Si Woo Kim (67) are a stroke further back.

Vijay Singh - one of the overnight leaders - dropped to eight under, four shots behind Snedeker after posting a third-round 69.

The three-time major winner and 2005 Sony Open champion is level alongside Daniel Summerhays (65), James Hahn (65) and Danny Lee (66).

Meanwhile, two-time defending champion Jimmy Walker is nine shots adrift following his 68.
