The NDC Founder deems the appointment as apt and it shows the seriousness and competence of President Akufo Addo.

Rawlings said, "the appointment of Amidu as Special Prosecutor from outside his own party shows the President is serious. It vindicates some of us. No developed country should hold back in assisting our country to improve the lives of our people.”

The ex-President was speaking to the media after a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Tsutomu Himeno.

Amidu's appointment has attracted a wide range of applause by anti-corruption conveners, politicians and a cross section of Ghanaians. Many have said that with his track record in fighting corruption, he will be able to execute the job very well.

Martin Amidu is set to know his fate tomorrow after going through a rigorous 7-hour vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 13.
