Stade de France security increased for Six Nations

Security is to be tightened at the Stade de France for the Six Nations following November's terror attacks in Paris.

The stadium was targeted as part of a series of attacks on the French capital during an international football friendly between France and Germany.

France are to play three home matches at home during the Six Nations and fans have been urged to turn up early, while additional controls will be put in place at police and security checkpoints.

"There will be very strict controls for fans and everyone else entering the Stade de France," the French Rugby Federation (FFR) said in a statement on its official website.

"The FFR therefore invites all supporters to get to the stadium early, gates will open two hours before kick-off.

"The national police and security officers have planned a number of checkpoints around the stadium to cut down on queues at the gates where controls will be increased.

"It is strongly advised not to bring backpacks, sports bags, motorcycle helmets or other bulky items."

France start their Six Nations campaign with back-to-back home matches versus Italy and Ireland, and finish their campaign at the Stade de France against England.
