Liverpool captain reveals why never signed for Jose Mourinho

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard who is set to leave the English club has revealed why he never signed for Jose Mourinho.

The Chelsea manager before the English Premier League of Sunday, May 10 has described Gerrard as his 'favourite enemy' and revealed that he came close to signing the midfielder during his time as manager  at Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

But Gerrard has revealed that he would have signed for Mourinho who he descirbed as 'the 'best manager in the world' during his time at Chelsea, Inter Milan or Real Madrid if he wasn't a Liverpool fan.

"I’ve got huge respect for Jose Mourinho," Gerrard told Sky Sports after he netted in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

"He’s the best manager in the world.

"I would have signed for him three times if I wasn’t a Liverpool fan. But you know I love this club.

"I thought,  'if win a couple of trophies at Liverpool, it’ll mean more than if I win 10 or 12 for Chelsea, Inter Milan or Real Madrid."
