Stewart Cink has pulled out of The Open at Royal Troon and is replaced in the field by Daniel Summerhays.

American Cink lifted the Claret Jug in 2009 after beating veteran Tom Watson in a four-hole play-off.

No reason was given for Cink's withdrawal, but he has had limited time on the course in recent months after it was revealed his wife Lisa is battling breast cancer.

Summerhays, who tied for eighth at the U.S. Open, now gets his chance at the tournament that starts a week on Thursday.
