Stonebwoy reveals how Sarkodie called police to arrest him

Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has opened up about his long-running 'beef' with rapper Sarkodie, revealing how a confrontation at Independence Square in 2020 allegedly led to police involvement.

Stonebwoy made the revelation during a TikTok Live session on September 8, 2026, recounting events surrounding Sarkodie's virtual Black Love Concert in August 2020.

Stonebwoy said he travelled from Togo to attend and support the concert despite being unwell.

However, he claimed that upon arriving at the venue, he was subjected to what he described as "inhumane treatment" by Sarkodie and his team.

He said he was kept backstage for several hours and became frustrated after developments at the event differed from what he had initially been told.

"I came all the way, I landed, I came there, backstage, and you guys gave me the inhumane treatment. I am not blaming you directly for it, but it's your name only. You all gave me the most inhumane treatment ever. You humiliated me, kept me behind the stage," he said.

Stonebwoy explained that despite being sick, he remained backstage throughout the event and eventually slept there for several hours.

He said tensions escalated after he woke up and realised that circumstances at the venue had changed from what he had been told earlier.

According to Stonebwoy, he became furious and got into a confrontation with Sarkodie's manager, Angel Town.

Stonebwoy said he was subsequently accused of hitting or slapping Angel Town but insisted that he never did so.

"Then they told me, Say I came to hit him; I came to slap him. All of those ones were on the side. That notwithstanding, if I had the intention to hit or slap or cause chaos, would I come there in the first place when I'm sick?" he asked.

He further explained that although he was told he would no longer perform, he remained at the venue until the programme ended, attributing his conduct to the discipline instilled in him.

"I humbly stood there with the discipline and principle that I have in my heart as a boy grown well from home. Discipline, proper, proper. I stayed there at the backstage of the Independence Square the whole fucking night till you closed your show," he stated.

According to Stonebwoy, he later approached Sarkodie to address the matter directly and apologised after being told that his hand had made contact with Angel Town's eye during the confrontation.

"I decided to come and talk to you directly and say, 'Yo, Killer, I no slap anybody.' Boys dey hold boys, tempers flare. The boy said my hand entered an eye. If my hand entered your eye, okay, cool. I'm here to apologise before I go. That's what I did," he recounted.

However, Stonebwoy said the matter did not end there.

He claimed that Sarkodie and his associates subsequently reported the incident to the police, seeking his arrest over an alleged injury to Angel Town.

Stonebwoy further claimed that he was told the police had received a statement alleging that he had been armed with a knife and guns during the incident.

"Somebody came to say I was holding a knife and I was holding guns in the statement. So the investigator asked him, Say, are you sure? If we go investigate where this boy holds anything you said, we will arrest you," he recounted in pidgin.

Stonebwoy said he eventually chose to apologise publicly, a decision he now regrets because, according to him, his lawyer remains unhappy that he took responsibility publicly despite his version of events.

"Til today my lawyer is angry at me for that move that I picked. Before they realise, what did I do? I came online to come and apologise, rather as if I caused anything," Stonebwoy added.

The revelation has once again brought the 2020 Black Love Concert incident into the spotlight, years after the confrontation contributed to the breakdown of the relationship between the two Ghanaian music heavyweights.
