Strika from 'Beasts of No Nation' movie reportedly jailed for stealing footbridge railings

• Ghanaian actor Strika, known for his role in Beasts of No Nation, has reportedly been jailed following an alleged incident involving the removal of metal railings from the Kwashieman footbridge.

• Strika reportedly told his former caretaker, Official Gunshot GH, that he had received a one-year prison sentence and was due to be transferred to Nsawam Prison.

• Conflicting reports claim he was sentenced to one year with the discrepancy yet to be independently clarified.

Strika, who gained international recognition after starring alongside Idris Elba in the 2015 Netflix war drama Beasts of No Nation, was reportedly apprehended by residents near the Kwashieman footbridge in August 2026.

According to reports, the former child actor was allegedly caught cutting metal railings from the footbridge, reportedly with the intention of selling them as scrap.

Footage purportedly showing the incident was shared on social media on August 29, 2026. The video quickly circulated on X, formerly known as Twitter, prompting widespread reactions from Ghanaians and fans who remembered Strika for his acclaimed performance in Beasts of No Nation*.

In the footage, residents can be seen confronting the actor at the footbridge as they recorded the incident. Strika, who appeared to have his hand raised close to his face, was surrounded by onlookers.

Following the incident, Official Gunshot GH, Strika's former caretaker and an associate of Kumawood actor and content creator Dr Likee, provided an update after reportedly speaking with the actor over the phone.

During the conversation, which was featured in a vlog shared with his YouTube audience, Strika claimed that he had appeared before a court and received a one-year prison sentence.

He also said he had been informed that he would be transferred to Nsawam Prison on Monday, September 14, 2026, to begin serving his sentence.

However, there are conflicting reports about the length of Strika's alleged sentence. While the actor reportedly stated that he had been sentenced to one year, other reports circulating in Ghana have claimed that he received a seven-year prison term.

The discrepancy has yet to be independently clarified.

During the phone conversation, Strika also reportedly expressed remorse over some of his past actions and appealed to Official Gunshot GH and his associate for assistance.

The development has generated concern among social media users, with many expressing sympathy for the actor and questioning the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

Strika became widely known as a child actor after his role as “Strika” in Beasts of No Nation, a performance that brought him international attention. His reported arrest and subsequent sentencing have therefore renewed public interest in the actor's life following his early success in the film industry.
