After a successful period working together with Japan, scrum guru Marc Dal Maso says he would be open to joining Eddie Jones as part of the England head coach's staff.

Jones was appointed as England boss last month, succeeding Stuart Lancaster after a disappointing Rugby World Cup campaign which saw the hosts fail to qualify from their pool.

Steve Borthwick - who also worked under Jones as Japan became the surprise success story of the tournament, winning three pool matches - has already been added to Jones' staff.

And Dal Maso, who has agreed to a short stint with Highlanders and has also been linked with Toulon, is keen for the trio to be reunited.

"It wasn't easy every day to work with Eddie but I'd like to do it again," he told The Rugby Paper.

"I was very lucky to meet him and I evolved as a coach because I constantly looked at the scrum.

"We used to get up at 4.30am to start work at 5am. He's a workaholic who's very hard on the players and the coaches alike. He puts a lot of pressure on everyone.

"I didn't understand why he wanted two forwards coaches but in the end it worked. He pushed me hard then Steve and we evolved as a result.

"Everyone was very precise in their job and that's what he wanted to take Japan where he did."
