He inflicted knife wounds on the face and stomach of the lady identified only as Tina.

Sackey is said to have approached the woman, a Nigerian, for sex at a drinking spot at Baatsona, near the Spintex Road, in Accra, at about 8 p.m. last Wednesday, 8 March, 2017.

The Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge who confirmed the incident in an interview with Kasapa FM said "The suspect lives in a single room in some compound house at Spintex. In the course of the confrontation the lady took a kitchen knife from the man’s room and threatened to stab him. But the man overpowered the lady and incidentally stabbed her, after he managed to take back the knife from the lady."

She said Sackey locked his room and reported to the Psychiatric Hospital but was directed by the hospital authorities to report himself to the police.

Afia Tenge said police officers went to the Manet Gardens Apartment of Sackey where the body of the victim was found lying in a pool of blood.

Sackey is in Police custody pending further investigations.
