The early release is attributed to the quick issuance of the WAEC results than anticipated. The university has therefore amended its calendar to accommodate the early arrival of freshmen.

In a letter dated 28th July 2017, signed by the registrar of the university Mercy Haizel-Ashia, the change in schedule would facilitate a continuous 13 weeks of lecture after which examinations would be conducted.

Previously, the schedule for freshmen for the first semester was divided into two sections because of the late commencement of their semester.

The arrival of freshmen would start on 21st August, 2017 and classes would officially commence on Monday, 28th August,2017.
