The United States women beat Spain 101-72 at Rio 2016 on Saturday to take home their sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Spain kept things close for a while, the USA leading by just four points at the end of the first quarter.

However, the inevitable soon happened, and for much of the second half the game was completely out of Spain's reach.

Diana Taurasi scored 17 points to win her fourth gold medal, tying for the team lead with Lindsay Whalen. Maya Moore added 14 points, five rebounds and six assists.

The win was the 49th in a row in Olympic competition for the United States, extending back to the bronze medal game at the 1992 Olympics.

"There's a lot of countries that play certain things, and we play basketball," Taurasi told NBC Sports after the game.
