Gospel musician Joe Mettle has been named "Artiste of the Year" in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), becoming the first gospel artiste to win it since 2000.

He also won the Gospel artiste of the year award and Male vocalist of the year award.

"This is for God almighty, this is for gospel music, this is for Christian and for every gospel musician in this house, I just want to say that the door is open,” he said in his acceptance speech.
