Appiah was handed a two-year contract last week Tuesday after beating off competition from Willy Sagnol and Hugo Broos.

The ex-Black Stars and Asante Kotoko skipper thinks African coaches are up to task like their foreign counterparts

"We are Africans and we believe in ourselves, the most important is for our FA Presidents to have confidence in us and give us the supports they would have given any other coach," he said.

"I think if they do that they won't think of going outside for a coach,"
