Shaun Wane revealed Wigan Warriors captain Sean O'Loughlin is not expecting a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury in Friday's Super League defeat to Warrington Wolves.

The inspirational O'Loughlin did not appear for the second half of a brutal 28-16 defeat to the leaders at the DW Stadium as injury-hit Wigan suffered only their second loss of the season.

Warriors coach Wane was able to offer an encouraging update on his skipper after the game.

"Lockers came off with a hamstring problem so Nick Gregson, an Academy second-rower, had to step into the halves." said Wane.

"I've just said to the players, I'm very proud with our defence in the second half. We showed that we're a proper Wigan team but I still think we could have got the game.

"Lockers said it wasn't that bad, he just couldn't sprint so it could be a fatigue injury after Easter."

Wigan were missing seven first-team regulars due to injury as Warrington went two points clear at the top of the table, but Wane said their problems are easing.

He added: "We'll get a few back next week. We've got eight days [until Wigan face Wakefield Trinity Wildcats] so we can get on the field and train, we'll get John Bateman and Ben Flower back, there's a chance on Dom Crosby.

"In the next three or four weeks we'll have a lot of players back so we're in good shape."
