Cepelova defeated world number one Serena Williams in straight sets in Charleston in 2014 and overcame Simona Halep in the first round at the All England Club last year.

The 124th-ranked Slovakian added the scalp of French Open champion and 2015 Wimbledon finalist Muguruza on Court No.1 on Thursday.

Having defeated Halep on the same court, Cepelova was delighted to taste victory once again and take her record against players ranked inside the top five to 3-2.

"I am so happy for this match. I played really well and I think I deserved it," the qualifier told BBC Sport.

"I didn't expect this and I am so happy. Last year I beat Halep on this court and I had great memories.

"I am very satisfied with this."
