WT20: No complaints from Williamson as New Zealand exit

Kane Williamson rued a below-par total with the bat as New Zealand were dumped out of the World Twenty20 at the semi-final stage by a superb England performance.

After a steady start to their innings the Black Caps failed to kick on in the second 10 overs as England's bowlers restricted their opponents well.

From 89-1 at the halfway stage, New Zealand could only muster 153-8 and England wasted no time knocking them off.

New Zealand's previously tight bowling attack failed to fire as Jason Roy led the way with a stunning 78 that featured 11 fours and two maximums.

"We were beaten by a far better team, they bowled much better and came out aggressively [with the bat]," said Williamson.

"At the halfway stage, credit to England the way they pulled it back, I knew we were probably a touch short.

"Had we got to the 180-mark it would have been a closer game.

"We weren't able to stem the flow of runs. It was a fantastic knock by Jason Roy to break the back of that total.

"Whatever the score we backed our bowlers to defend anything, but the damage was done early."
