Younis backs Amir to improve after Pakistan return

Amir made his first appearance since 2010 in Friday's Twenty20 international with New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland having served a five-year ban for his role in a spot-fixing scandal.

The left-armer finished with figures of 1-31 but saw two catches dropped off his bowling as Pakistan claimed a 16-run win in the first game of the three-match series.

Younis said: "I'm very pleased with Mohammad Amir's comeback, I thought he bowled pretty okay. He'll probably get better and better.

"I wanted those catches to be taken because it would have really given him that confidence. This is part of the game, this happens."

Asked about what role he expects Amir to play in a T20 innings, Younis added: "Twenty20 is a tough game, it's not easy because it moves so fast.

"It's very difficult to expect certain things from some bowlers, I think you really have to work as a bowling unit.

"I'm expecting Amir to get breakthroughs with the new ball, which I think he's got the capability [to do]."
