The news of his ill health has generated controversy among Ghanaians, especially after reports from certain quarters claimed that he had suffered stroke.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dispelled such claims, with Dr. Bawumia’s wife insisting her husband will be back in the country soon.

Indeed, videos and photos of the Vice-President and his wife strolling the streets of London have taken over Ghanaian social media in the past few days, suggesting that his recovery is going according to plan.

And the Majority Leader has now revealed when exactly Dr. Bawumia would return to the country.

According to him, the Vice-President could return in a week’s time after doctors requested that he takes more days off to rest.

“The Vice President really, I’ll tell you that he is okay. But, he has been asked to rest a bit,” Mr. Mensah-Bonsu told Starr News.

“You know Ghanaians if he should come now, so many people will be trooping to his house and thus he wouldn’t have time to rest,” he told Ibrahim adding “which is why I think the doctors decided that [he should] continue to rest a bit for at least one more week or so before coming.”

He further clarified that Dr. Bawumia is not on admission at a hospital, contrary to earlier reports.
