The figure is likely to increase with about a week more for nominations to close. However, for their names to appear on the ballot on December 7, they should have returned the completed forms and paid the filing fee of Gh¢50,000 by September 30.

The figure is 500 per cent from the GH¢10,000 paid by presidential candidates in the 2012 elections.

The PPP has been among the leading critics of the increase in filing fees.
