Speaking in an interview with Accra based Class FM, he said "Now Ghana celebrates Adwoa Safo and I doff off my hat for her, she has done so well. If Sammy Crabbe had not stood his ground for her, we wouldn’t be seeing this today. Up to now, the Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye, is not on good terms with me because of Adwoa Safo but I don’t care because I can sit down and say that I saw potential, I stood my ground and I created the space."

In the 2011 NPP primaries ahead of the 2012 presidential and parliamentary general elections, Sarah Adwoa Safo beat Mike Oquaye Jnr and subsequently won the elections to become the MP for the Dome Kwabenya constituency.

He added that he helped Adwoa Safo to succeed in her political ambitions.

Sammy Crabbe has expressed interest to contest as National Chairman in the party.

A poster for his campaign said he intends to "build a party for all".

The poster markets him as having a "proven track record in championing the rights and welfare of all party executives and members."

He was suspended by the National Executive Committee of the NPP after he failed to appear before a Disciplinary Committee of the party to answer misconduct charges leveled against him by two members of the party.

He challenged the decision and said it was an act of lawlessness by "coup makers" who had thrown the party's long-held credentials to the dogs.

He proceeded to the Accra High Court months after his suspension to seek to annul the decision.

The case had the suspended chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko testifying as a witness for the plaintiff.

The Suspended General Secretary of the Party, Kwabena Agyepong, was in court in solidarity with the suspended Chairman who testified.

The High Court, however, dismissed his suit.
