Spokesperson for Nana Akufo Addo has downplayed the effects of social media following on the outcome of elections.

According to Mustapha Hamid having a huge following of social media does not guarantee a win in elections

Speaking to Pulse.com.gh Hamid said “I don’t believe that all those who have liked Nana Addo’s page want to vote for him. Some want to monitor what is going on, on his page. I’m not under that illusion at all.”

When President Mahama hit one million likes on Facebook, he put up a video to celebrate that feat. Even though Hamid is not against such celebrations he said the NPP's  focus is on delivering Ghana from hardship.

“For me what matters is the bread and butter issue, we want solutions to resolve the problems of our people.”

Currently, on Facebook, the presidential nominee with most followers is President Mahama, followed by Nana Akuffo Addo and Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom.
