Here's a look at happenings so far considering the Black Queens team and beyond in this tournament.

Black Queens are drawn in group A with host nation Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger.

In Group B, Benin withdrew from the tournament as their Benin Football Federation president described the side as “not yet competitive”

Benin will now be replaced by Mali with hours to the commencement of the tournament.

This means Group B will have Nigeria, Mali, Senegal and Togo.

Mercy Tagoe takes charge of the team for the first time and has named a squad of 18 players to take part in this tournament.

The captain of the side Elizabeth Addo was permitted to leave the side to complete here transfer to Seattle Reign Fc in the United States.

Portia Boakye has therefore been named Black Queens captain for the WAFU tournament.

Ghana's ambassador to Cote D’Ivoire His Excellency Daniel Laryea paid the Black Queens a visit.

HE Laryea told the Black Queens he was optimistic about their chances in regards to them lifting the trophy.

The opening game between Black Queens and Cote D’Ivoire kicks off 3:30 pm.
