Reports in the local media suggested that Ayiah had penned a deal with the Portuguese giants, following his impressive performances for Ghana at the U-17 Nations Cup in May.

The 16-year-old was a mainstay in the Black Starlets set-up, scoring four goals as the team finished as runners-up to Mali in the tournament.

His agent had initially revealed that Ayiah was the subject of bids from numerous European clubs, but has denied reports that the player has already signed for FC Porto.

“It is not true, I don’t know where this is coming from and I don’t know the one behind this,” Osei is quoted as saying, in an interview with Atinka FM.

“We haven’t spoken to FC Porto. Yes, during the U-17 Championships there were lots of offers for the player, but as at now no one has made any approach.

“But it is never true that he is joining FC Porto, I also saw it on social media.”

Ayiah is part of a 25-man-squad called up by Black Starlets coach, Paa Kwesi Fabian, as the team prepares for the U-17 World Cup scheduled for India in October.
