After starting the season without scoring in the opening seven games, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) youngster, Daniel Lomotey Adzigodi Agbloe netted for the third straight Ghana Premier League game on Wednesday, this time a candidate for goal of the season.
The 17 year old goal poacher opened his account in WAFA's 4-1away humiliation of defending champions, Wa All Stars, scored the only goal at Bechem United last Sunday and followed up with a spectacular strike against former champs, AshGold at their Sogakofe home grounds that many believe is a contender for goal of the season.
The former Denart Soccer Academy of Ada striker picked a loose ball from around the centre circle, dribbled past two AshGold defenders and unexpectedly fired in a thunderbolt of a shot many yards away from the '18' box to beat AshGold goalie Apronti in post to put the WAFA lads in a two goal lead on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory and up to top spot on the league ladder.
The teenager is at the minute the toast of his WAFA teammates, technical team and supporters but Lomotey is rather focused on working harder after reviving his league topscorer aspirations now with three strikes to his name and is already looking forward to the next game against Elmina Sharks.
"I dedicate this goal to our late technical director Sam Arday who will be laid to rest this weekend. I'm extremely happy with scoring in three league games in a row after not scoring in my first seven matches. Now I think my goalking dream is right back on track, I just have to work harder and surely I will score more goals and we will see what happens come end of season," Daniel Lomotey said.
"Another dream I have is to play for the national under 20 team and to get to that level I know I must prove myself by scoring more goals. I appreciate the support of my team mates, our supporters and the technical team, they are wonderful people," Lomotey added.
