Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling has fire fighter to thank for saving his house from burning to ashes.
Fire crews were called in to the 25-year-old's house on Tuesday, May 5 after Police on patrol in the area spotted smoke coming from the back garden of his house.
It was discovered that it was the defender's hot tub that caught fire.
Upon arrival, the fire fighters used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze which they though would have been caused by an electrical fault with the hot tub and which had spread to decking at the rear of the plush property.
According to a Daily Mail report, Smalling was not at home when the incident happened around 8pm.
Altrincham Fire Station's watch manager Stuart France told the website that the fire may well have been more serious.
"Police were in the area when they spotted smoke and reported a fire to our control centre. When we arrived it was quite a large fire involving a Jacuzzi and decking, which could have easily become something more serious," Stuart France said.
"The police officers who were at the scene used a garden hose on the fire and when we arrived we extinguished it using a hose reel.
"The most likely cause was an accidental electrical fault."
