American rapper confirms he's HIV positive

Mykki Blanco (real name Michael David Quattlebaum Jr.) has confirmed he is HIV Positive and has known since 2011.

The American rapper shared the very personal information on his Facebook page on June 12 claiming he's tired of hiding.

The poet and performance artist followed up by commenting on the post, writing, "no more living a lie. HAPPY PRIDE."

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Blanco was arrested in Portugal 'for being gay' in 2014 and later spoke out about the Russian gay propaganda laws.

Blanco, who is known to be very passionate about LGBT rights, was referred to as a 'gender ninja' in a 2013 cover story 'The Village Voice'.
