Kotoko defender Evans Quao ruled out for six weeks with foot injury

Asante Kotoko defender Evans Quao has been ruled of for six weeks after sustaining a foot injury, the club has confirmed.

Quao picked up the injury during the club’s pre-season game against Nacoster FC on Saturday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The versatile defender's left foot has since been in a protection cast. Doctors are expected to work on his foot two weeks later to have a more permanent protection till he fully recovers.

Quao, has been one of Coach Zdravko Logarusic's favourite defensive midfielders in the pre-season work.

Quao opened the scores with a penalty when Kotoko beat Natcoster FC by 2-0 in Saturday’s friendly. He however left the game prematurely after an opponent stepped on his foot after an aerial challenge.

Head of Kotoko’s medical team, Dr. Michael Leat detected a closed fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal after he conducted a thorough physical and radiological examination on the player after the game.

"A below backslap P. O. P. has been applied and we will do a full case P. O. P. He has been given six weeks as resting period," confirmed Dr. Michael Leat.
