Great Olympics has come under intense scrutiny after it emerged that the club gave a hostile reception to photojournalist Senyiuedzorm Awusi Adadevoh, and prevented her from covering their week four match against Bechem United at the Accra Sports stadium.
The matter prompted the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to issue a statement condemning the treatment of journalists at league centres.
Most journalists also hit out at the club, calling for a boycott of their matches after initiating the #BoycottOlympics harsh tag on social media.
However, the outbursts seem to have been of little importance to Olympics. The club’s General Manager, Oluboi Commodore, has responded saying he has no problem if journalists decide to boycott the club’s matches.
According to him, the club will not beg to have journalists cover their matches.
He told Class FM: “If journalists have decided to boycott our games, that is their right. People said they were boycotting the inauguration of Trump. Some did but he is still the president.
“I can’t stop or beg any journalist from exercising their civil right. They have the right to do so.
