Government gives Normalisation Committee GH₵800,000 for special competition
Ghana football has been in hibernation since the Number 12 expose’ in June 2018 by multiple award winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas unraveled several rots in the beautiful game in the country.
The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association was replaced by a FIFA Normalisation Committee to steer the affairs of football.
The Normalisation Committee has put in place a special competition to bring back domestic football, following public outcry by lovers of the game.
The special competition which will be played in two tiers- tier one and tier two and that will be determined by a playoff.
The winners of the home and away knockout contest will play in the tier one competition, while the losers will take part of the tier two.
Spokesperson of the Normalisation Committee Dan Kwaku Yeboah has stated the amount involved in the competition.
“We wanted to solicit for funds from both the corporate bodies and the Government of Ghana. However, we couldn’t land the expected revenue from the corporate bodies, but government has given us GH₵ 800,000 to organise the competition,” he told Silver FM.
“Winners of the tier 1 will receive GH₵ 100,000.00 with an additional GH₵ 100,000.00 to given to the playing body. The runner-up in that same tier will take home GH₵ 50,000.00 with an additional GH₵ 50,000.00 paid directly to the players of the clubs.
“Winners of the tier 2 will be richer by GH₵ 75,000.00 with an additional GH₵ 75,000.00 payable to the players directly
“The runner-up in Tier 2 will also pocket GH₵ 40,000.00 with an additional GH₵ 40,000.00 paid directly to the players.”
