Referees Committee wants VAR in Ghana Premier League

Kudjoe Fianoo chairman of the Referees Association which was formed by the Normalisation Committee to review refereeing in Ghana’s quest to restructure their football has proposed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) should be introduced to help reduce human error in the beautiful game in the country.

Referees were in the middle of the ‘Number 12’ scandal that hit Ghana football and the Normalisation Committee which was put in place to replace the Executive Committee has taken keen steps to restore the confidence of Ghanaians in referees.

The Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association wants Video Assistant Referees [VAR] in the Premier League for next season.

The proposal is being campaigned by chairman of the Committee Kudjoe Fianoo.

"The Referees Committee of the GFA Normalization Committee have proposed the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and Goal Line Technology at "key" Ghana Premier League centres," the former Ashgold CEO told Atinka FM.

The Executive Committee of CAF have also agreed the use of the VAR in the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted by Egypt this year.
