Watch the Bench Press World Record Holder Smash His Home Workout
To help his YouTube subscribers pass the time during quarantine, Maddox just posted his own version of a home workout video. The session requires minimal accessories, such as dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, a weighted sandbag... oh, and a car. Because when you're a world record-holding powerlifter, a "basic" home workout apparently starts with a vehicle push.
The SUV push is at least assisteda driver keeps the car moving ever so slightly while the exercisers strain to push. Even so, if you're doing your own home workouts, you should probably skip that movement to avoid any unfortunate accidents.
Short on gym equipment, Maddox improvises a barbell using a bar, bands, and kettlebells for some bent-over rows. Then he and his companions do a few sets of the overhead dumbbell press. Keeping your body active is more important now than ever, he says: "This is not just a lifestyle, this is a life change, this is something we can have daily, or at least multiple times a week, we are working out."
Next up Maddox leads his volunteers in jump squats and pushups , then demonstrates how to do standing cable curls using just kettlebells and bands. He follows that up with what he calls his "giant set": a taxing superset finisher of lateral raises, flys, and front raises.
