The Accra Sports Stadium is the challenge we are currently facing - Linear Addy
The chairperson of the Women’s League Board and a member for the African Women’s Cup of Nations has indicated that Accra Sports Stadium is the major challenge the tournament is currently facing in its preparations.
Liner Addy was speaking to Radio XYZ considering the ongoing preparations towards the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations to be held in Ghana.
“The CAF team have come to inspect the various venues and we are waiting for the recommendations.
"You know the Accra Sports Stadium is a challenge and the governments say it going to be closed down in January for renovation works.”
The rest will be in the hands of the state and I am not in a position to talk much for what the state is planning to do with the stadium but closing it down to renovate is a good idea.
On the other hand, The National Sports Authority Boss has indicated that the Accra Sports Stadium will be ready for the tournament which takes place in 11 months.
“I haven’t received official confirmation yet but the rumours I am hearing is that they were not impressed with the state of the Accra Sports Stadium,” he said.
“It is not surprising, and that is why we are going to renovate it, so I believe when the CAF delegation comes back for the second inspection, the stadium will be ready.
"Surely the stadium will be ready in time to host the Africa Women’s Championship.”
