Ghanaian midfielder honoured for fighting against racism

The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder has been awarded for globally leading the chant against racism

Kevin-Prince Boateng in his AC Milan days did a very bold gesture by walking of the pitch when he was racially abused in a friendly match against Pro Patria in 2013.

The match was abandoned and ever since Kevin Prince has mounted campaigns in different platforms condemning racial abuse and suggested innovative ways of dealing with the canker.

This includes an instance where Kevin Boateng spoke to the United Nations at the Headquaters in Geneva where he did say that more needed to be done to identify and punish those who involve themselves in this act.

In view of this a jury from the radio station voted Kevin Prince Boateng the winner of the award and described his actions on and off the field as “sending signals beyond football”

The Ghanaian midfielder went on to say that people are recognizing the importance of racism

"To be given this award means that people are taking note and that there are still a lot of people who care about this issue,"

Kevin Prince Boateng also took to his twitter handle to celebrate the feet with the caption “This award is for all people who fight racism!!! Thx to #1livekrone #prince17 #proud"

Early this year Kevin Prince Boateng mounted the use of Video technology to as well identify fans who racially abuse fans in the stands.

Kevin-Prince Boateng who plays with Eintrach Frankfurt has played in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups for the Ghana Black Stars.

The German Bundesliga on twitter feed also gave credence to Kevin Prince Boateng for winning the award.
