Dancehall King Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly referred to as Shatta Wale has said that he deserved to be named the Artiste of the Year from 2013 to 2017.

In an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM the ‘taking over’ hitmaker said  “from 2013 to 2017, all the awards winners for the ‘Artiste of the Year’ should know I deserved it. They shouldn’t think they worked hard. They should come out. I am just doing business.”

The controversial dancehall artiste argued that he was better then and is now than those who won the prestigious award.

“Ghanaians know I have set a record regardless. I would have chopped it five years in a row. We don’t have to hide the truth from the young ones coming,” he said.

He also thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for inviting him to the Flagstaff house.

“It was such a great honour to meet the president. The feeling was great.”

“We need everyone’s support. It was a great honour to meet the president. The feeling was great. We should try and be truthful to matters that are important to us. We need to have one mind to support the agenda. We need to better the future.”
