I slept in a funeral home in high school - Mzbel reveals

Afrobeats musician and TV host Mzbel has revealed that she used to sleep in a funeral home during her high school days.

According to the “Tongues” singer, the struggle – at some point in her life – forced her to sleep in a room where corpses were dressed before their final burial.

She made this revelation on Abeiku Santana’s “Atuu” show on UTV.

Mzbel said her rejection from boarding house forced her to rent a room with her school mate.

“Helen and I never knew it was a funeral home and our room was the final place for dead bodies,” she revealed.

She said the landlady never made her aware about the state of the room but found out the truth in her last days at her high school.

“The landlady never told us. We always felt like there was something in the room and we only got to find out in the last days of our school. Even the bodies were kept on the mattress she gave us.”
