Budding actor, Joseph Otsiman who has earned a nomination at the 2016 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) has stated that though he was disappointed for not receiving a nomination at the 2015

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Monday, Joseph said he was extremely happy when he heard that he has been nominated at the AMAAs.

“It was crazy. I expected the nomination at the Ghana Movie Awards which didn’t happen so I thought it wouldn’t be possible at the AMAAs… I can’t describe it. It was crazy,” he stated when asked how he felt when he heard the news.

On if the recognition by AMAAs makes him disappointed in Ghana Movie Awards for not nominating him, the actor replied in the negative.

“Not at all. I don’t know what the Ghana Movie Awards and AMAA considered before nominating. Maybe it’s not the same criteria. Though I was disappointed I couldn’t get the Ghana Movie Awards, I was okay. It just motivated me to work harder,” he noted.

Joseph started acting during his days in High School, he has said. According to him, The Cursed Ones, is his first film.  He however added that before this, he had been featuring in couple of theatre productions.

The Cursed Ones has received thirteen nominations at this year’s African Movie Academy Awards.

Various categories in which it has been nominated are Achievement in Make-up, Achievement in Costume Design, Achievement in Production Design, Achievement in Soundtrack, Achievement in Sound, Achievement in Cinematography, Achievement in Editing, Achievement in Screenplay and Best Film.

Others are Oris Erhuero [Best Actor in Lead Role], Ophelia Xlenam [Best Young/Promising Actor] and Nana Obiri Yeboah/Maximilian Claussen [Best Director].

The movie stars Ama K. Abebrese, Fred Amugi, Oris Erhuero, Jimmy Jean-Louis and many others.

Twenty (20) films and 5 (five) short films qualified for the nomination stage out of over 400 films from African countries including Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Egypt countries which were submitted for consideration.
