John Dumelo raises concerns over living conditions of judges

Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has expressed disgust at the conditions of service of judges in the country.

His comments came in the wake of the latest allegations of bribery and corruption that has rocked the judicial service.

An investigative piece by award winning journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas where thirty-four judges at the country’s High Courts, the Circuit and District courts were captured on camera allegedly taking bribes from litigants whose cases come before them was premiered on Tuesday at the Accra International Conference Centre.

John Dumelo in a tweet indicated that he walked out of the auditorium because he was saddened by what he saw in the video.

The 4Play actor however asked Ghanaians to help find remedies to the situation instead of hitting hard at the indicted justices.

Although many have said that 'inadequate salaries' and 'poor living conditions' of the justices should not be a justification for their involvement in corruption, John Dumelo believes a second look should be taken at the conditions of service of judges.

Meanwhile, lawyers of embattled high court judge, Justice Paul Uuter Deryhave filed a contempt suit against the management of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) for going ahead to show journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ judicial corruption video.

The legal team also included local television station UTV in the contempt case for telecasting excerpts of the video yesterday on their network.
