Kim Kardashian has failed to maintain her top spot as the most followed person on Instagram after Taylor Swift kicked her out of the position. As of Tuesday, September 9, the 25-year-old pop star has nabbed the peak with a staggering 45.5 million number as oppose to Kim's 45 million.

The news may have come as a huge shocker to the 34-year-old pregnant star, who took to social media only a few days ago to celebrate her milestone with a snap of her ample cleavage. She wrote: "45 million Instagram followers!!!!!! I love you guys!!!!!"

Taylor has yet to mention her meteoric rise to the top, but she did take to Instagram last week wearing a fan-made sweater with a Polaroid image of herself knitted on it.

Aside from her impressive social media fan base, Taylor has also topped Vanity Fair's 2015 'New Establishment The Powers That Be List.

The country-turned-pop star ranked 11 places above her 'running mate' Kanye West and his pregnant socialite wife. Vanity Fair explained how Swift made 'giant companies like Appleconform to her will.'

The mag was addressing Apple's recent decision to not pay musicians for the first three months of their release, and how Swift took matters into her own hands by declining her latest album from streaming on their site. A day later, Executive Eddy Cue said they would pay royalties during the free trial period. ''We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple."
