Canadian musician, Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd was arrested on Saturday, January 10 for an assault of a police officer in Las Vegas.

The singer was arrested for assaulting a police officer during his visit to Las Vegas last Saturday, January 10.

The Grammy-winning R&B artiste, was taken into police custody on one count of misdemeanour battery following an incident at the Cromwell Hotel.
According to , Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, Laura Meltzer said that The Weeknd hit an officer in the side of his head when he came to investigate an initial altercation. It was however unclear if the original altercation had been of a physical or verbal nature.
The Weeknd, who was in town to perform at Drai’s Nightclub, was later released on $2000 bail.
He posted a photo of himself boarding a private jet with the caption, “escaped from Las Vegas.”
The Weeknd shot to international fame after the release of his 2013 album Kiss Land. He won a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2013, with his featured appearance on Wiz Khalifa’s “Remember Me”.
