Film becomes 3rd highest grossing animation of all time

Right behind 'Frozen' and 'Toy Story 3,' 'Minions' has earned its spot as the 3rd highest grossing animation film of all time by crossing the $1 billion worldwide

 

Following the announcement that the Universal studio already set an all-time box office record, the Minions box office has surpassed $1 billion worldwide.

The 2015 film which grossed an estimated $682 million internationally and $321.9 million in North America, is currently the third-highest grossing animated film of all time.

The animated film is taking the spot right behind 'Frozen,' and 'Toy Story.'

This feat also marks the first time any studio has had three films cross $1 billion at the worldwide box office in a single year.

Universal's  Furious 7 grossed $1.512 billion while Jurassic World has grossed $1.628 billion.

'Minions' which is expected to have a massive opening in China on September 13, is currently the 23rd highest-grossing film of all time.
