8 new Ghanaian artistes to watch in 2019

2018 brought us blessings like La Meme Gang and their leader Darko Vibes, Ground Up Chale boys; Kofi Mole, Kwasi Arthur, Quamina Mp and Twitch, RuffTown Records newest signee Wendy Shay, ‘Do The Dance’ craze creator Eddie Khae, E.L’s newest signee Dope Nation, Stonebwoy’s latest signee Kelvyn Boy and “Akyia” hitmaker eShun.

New Ghanaian artistes to watch in 2019

But 2019 promises to bring the industry more blessings even though it’s too early to draw a conclusion. The seemingly growing industry has unearthed many international talents within the last two to three years.

Last year saw a bunch of hardworking rising stars and shot callers who put out several fairly hit songs, and if they continue this year, their lights will definitely shine.

Here, Pulse Ghana entertainment editor David Mawuli has compiled a list of eight (8) up and coming artistes who might break out in 2019.

Tulenkey

2018 got lit with Tulenkey – a record producer and rapper who got social media hyped with a cover of Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin’s award-winning song, “I Like That”. He remixed the song with Medikal, shot a crazy video for it and later got featured on Sarkodie’s “Biibi Ba” hit song.

Kwesi Slay

The young MC set the mood for 2018 with a motivational record “Seven” featuring BET Award nominee Kwesi Arthur. Before “Seven”, he had dropped “Aben” – a 6-track EP which features Wanlov The Kubolor, Ko-Jo Cue and Cabum. He rocked a few stages throughout last year.

S3fa

One of the most valuable signees of D-Black is S3fa. She kicked started 2018 with a fairly hit single, titled “Odo Yewu” and concluded the year with a splendid collaboration with Bisa Kdei titled “Pepper”. The Black Avenue Muzik record label artiste was busy last year and her impact was felt.

Lyrical Joe (LJ)

One of the new ferocious rappers to show up last year was Lyrical Joe also known as LJ. He dropped one of the best rap albums in 2018, titled “KILL” and was adjudged one of the best rappers on Sarkodie’s “Biibi Ba” song.

 Krymi

The Highly Spiritual Music record label signee got the ladies hyped with his maiden single, “Dede”. Krymi wasn’t too busy last year but made a few impactful stage appearances. Hope his good foundation propels him to success this year.

Yaw Berk

“I will be your man//You be my woman//Fies3 D) me fies3 dua Kro) gyi frama 3bu,” is one of or even the second favourite verse produced in 2018 after Medikal’s “Aboa, woto nono.” Yaw Berk made some mark with his debut single, “Independent Lady”, and we hope he continues this year.

Mr Drew

Another Highly Spiritual Music record label signee, Mr Drew swept highlife music lovers’ off their feet with his debut record, titled “Gimme Love”. His sweet vocals coupled with his lyrical flair places him above others. 2019 should be a step up year for him.

Freda Rhymz

Another fierce femcee, Freda Rhymz is one of the wild young female rappers making her way into the limelight with her genius lyrical dexterity. Known for her song, “Jammin'”, the Black Avenue Muzik signee put 2018 on fire with her amazing stagecraft and overall creativity. Hope she continues the success this year.
