Beyoncé will benefit the most from featuring Shatta Wale – Fuse ODG

UK-based Ghanaian musician Fuse ODG believes American singer Beyoncé will benefit the most from featuring Shatta Wale on her upcoming album, titled ‘The Lion King: The Gift’.

Beyonce features Shatta Wale

According to him, the feature allows Beyoncé to get certification from more Africans than she previously had.

“I think Beyoncé benefits the most from obviously Africa certifying her, because there is nobody cooler than Africans right now,” Fuse ODG said on Accra-based 3 FM.

“So Beyoncé actually being a part of this soundtrack to me, it benefits her a lot greater. She’s getting certification from real African people.”

The “Bra fie” hit maker, however, believes it would have been more appropriate to have an African artiste hosting the Lion King album since the movie is set in Africa.

“Definitely we should be helping Beyoncé, and of course helping each other in terms of the platforms that she has, but in terms of legitimacy for African music…Remember Lion King is set in Africa," he said.

“So really, it should have really been hosted by an African artiste, but I think having Beyoncé on board, of course, she has a crazy reach and all the African artistes involved should give her the certification she needs.”

In what is perhaps the most high profile collaboration of his career, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale will be featuring on the Lion King album curated by Beyoncé.

Beyoncé curated soundtrack titled ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ will feature new songs performed by multiple artistes, including some of Africa’s biggest stars.

Some of the other artistes featured on the album include Nigeria’s Mr. Eazzi, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage and Burna Boy.
