VGMA 2020: Sarkodie leads with 11 nominations

Sarkodie is the most nominated musician for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The two-time BET Award winner dominated this year’s nomination list which was released Saturday, February 29, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

The SarkCess Music label boss earned a nomination in all the top categories, making him the strongest candidate for this year’s awards.

He competes in the “Most Popular Song of the Year” category with Quamina MP, Celestine Donkor, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal, Diana Hamilton, Dopenation, Fameye, Kuami Eugene, Kwesi Arthur and KiDi with his chart-topping song “Oofeetso” which features Prince Bright of Buk Bak fame.

In the coveted “Artiste of the Year” category, he faces still competition from Kuami Eugene, Diana Hamilton, Medikal and Kofi Kinaata.

While in the “Rapper of the Year” category, he competes with his former signee Strongman, and EL, Teephlow, Medikal, Eno Barony and Kwesi Arthur.

He gained nominations in other strong categories including the “International Collaboration of the Year” with “Lucky” featuring Nigeria’s Rudeboy of P-Square fame, “Best Collaboration of the Year” with “Saara” featuring Efya, “Album of the Year” with “Black Love” and “Hip-Hop Song of the Year” with “Bleeding”.
