Saudi Arabia generates $14.3 Billion

Official reports have reportedly shown that Saudi Arabia generated over 14 Billion dollars this year.

According to local media, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) discovered that while outgoing Saudi tourists spent 6.4 billion dollars abroad, domestic and inbound foreign tourism revenues reached SR53.7 billion 14.3 billion dollars.

In 2015, the number of tourists to Saudi Arabia reached 15.4 million, up three percent increase from the previous year, and the number of outbound Saudi tourists reached 6.4 million.

Not unconnected to this rise in the flock of tourists to Saudi Arabia is religious tourism. Saudi Arabia is regarded as the geographical capital of Islam and adherents of the Muslim faith are required to visit the Holy Land on Hajj pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime as long as they can afford it.

They are also required to perform Umrah pilgrimage, a sort of 'lesser hajj' during the holy month of Ramadan, however unlike Hajj, Umrah is not compulsory for Muslims.
