According to Samuel Teye, the Head of Human Capital of the Bank, Stanbic Bank partnered Nneka Youth Foundation because the objectives of the Foundation are very much aligned to the bank’s CSR strategy.

“The Nneka Foundation aims at giving the youth an opportunity to be what they really aspire to become in life,” he said. “For the staff members, this is a great opportunity to express a high sense of humanity from which they derive an inner reward. Our Group’s mantra, Africa is our home and we drive her growth, demonstrates our outmost commitment to continuously recognise the need to promote and deliberately support the underprivileged through outreach programmes organised by impactful entities like Nneka Youth Foundation,” Teye stated.

Since its inception in 2012, the Foundation has trained over 9000 children who have grown to take up profitable vocations and helped support their families. This year’s four-week Summer Camp was attended by 2,242 teenagers from South Dayi, Afadzato South and other neighbouring communities. The beneficiaries of the Foundation receive training from experts and professionals of various disciplines, such as medical doctors, High Court Justices and University Professors. The training comprise the effective use of social media, time management, career path guidance, marketing and entrepreneurship skills, reproductive health effects of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and  general life skills.

Cecelia Fiaka, Founder of the Nneka Youth Foundation, and a former Banker who hails from the Ve-Agbome Township, is said to have quit her job to set up the Youth Foundation with the aim of causing change in her community.

“I questioned myself about the human resource base of my community,” she recounted. “I got challenged to try to see if I can bring these children together and help them believe in themselves in order not to settle for these vices that are derailing them from their roots.”

Stanbic Bank over the years has been committed to creating prosperity by providing critical social support in education, sports development, the agricultural sector, poverty relief, health and environmental protection.
