The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has threatened to sanction all tax defaulters as it intensifies efforts to meet the domestic tax revenue targets of 2015 of GHC 12.634 billion.
According to the head of the Revenue Mobilisation Task Force, Theophilus Gaskin, the Association has not been able to meet its target for the first half of the year, and needs to step up efforts in order to meet the target for the year.

"Our targets in domestic tax revenue for the first half of the year is over 8 billion cedis. As at July we had collected ’’ he revealed.
Though this was higher than the amounts collected in the first half of 2014, Mr. Gaskin believes more will have to be done in order to reach the 2015 targets.

"We need to make up the deficit of for the first half. So we are sounding a strict word of caution to all defaulters to pay up, or face severe sanctions’’, the Head of the Task Force emphasized.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) ,last year, collected a total tax revenue of GH¢17.07 billion, representing a three per cent short fall of the targeted GH¢17.61 billion.
The Special Tax Mobilisation Task Force was formed in July, 2007 to help in the efficient collection of tax revenue.
Despite the shortfall the 2014 figure, registered a growth rate of 29.7 per cent collection over the 2013 figure of GH¢13.16 billion and 18.5 per cent over that of 2012.
This was disclosed by George Blankson, Commissioner-General of GRA at a soiree held last week Friday, to interact with the media.

Mr. Blankson said GRA for this year had been charged to collect GH¢21.98 billion in total revenue collection.
