The National President, Afful Monney on Wednesday morning announced that Mr. Burkason seizes to be a leader of the association after he contested in the Builsa North constituency primaries.
According to him,it was unethical for Mr. Burkason to be holding on to his position after his engagement in party politics.
“He cannot do politics while occupying the position as the regional chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association. Burkason is no more the regional chairman of the GJA in the Ashanti Region and the mantle falls on the Vice Chairman to act as chairperson till fresh elections are held in the Ashanti Region for his replacement,” he noted on Citi FM.
But reacting to the remarks, Listowel Yesu Burkason said “It’s a far cry… I do not know whether Mr. Monney spoke in his capacity as GJA president or in his personal capacity but I think I have not done any wrong in my decision to contest a political position.”
Mr. Burkason was one of the two aspirants in the Builsa North constituency primaries held last Saturday but lost.
