Accra-Tema Motorway Street Lights Burnt To Ashes

Street lights which were fixed on the Accra-Tema Motorway to curb road traffic accident and nocturnal activities have all burnt to ashes and stolen by thieves, Pulse.com.gh can confirm.

A visit by Pulse.com.gh on the motorway discovered that a total of 181 poles of the street lights had broken down with the bulbs on them removed by criminals and also burnt.

The glass fibre made streetlight poles, were destroyed by either cutting with hacksaw or burning at the base whiles others were burnt at the base with lorry tyres..

The stretches of grass between the carriage-ways have been burnt.

The non-functioning street lights on the Accra-Tema motorway, according to our investigations, have given cause for motorists to panic as their lives could further be endangered through road crashes on that stretch of the road.

Most of the poles knocked by vehicles were also seen lying on the ground, but not cut off.
