Samuel Udotek is standing trial for escaping lawful custody, causing unlawful damage and resisting arrest after he escaped a Takoradi police cell on December 30, 2018.

The suspect used an object to cut the iron rod for the ventilation in the cell and escaped, the Western Regional police command explained.

It took seven police officers, who were on duty during the escape, 10 days to bring back the suspect or face the law.

News of his escape irked residents in Takoradi who questioned the police commitment to resolve a kidnapping case which has since grabbed national media attention.

Samuel Udotek Willison was recaptured January 10, 2019 in an abandoned building.

A dress and head gear of one of the victims was found.
