Information reaching our media outlets suggest that the infamous galamsey queen, Aisha Huan has been deported from the country. Her arrest by the Ghana Immigration officials was reported in May 2017. 

The Chinese who is reported to have been deported via an Ethiopian Airway flight around 1400GMT came into the news in May 2017 when she was arrested for illegal mining activities.

Aisha Huan and four other Chinese nationals were arrested and arraigned before court on 9th May 2018. They were charged for engaging in illegal mining operations in Bepotenten in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

According to the prosecution, they had broken the law on two counts namely Section 99 (1) OF THE Minerals and Mining Act 2006 (Act 703) and Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573). The former deals with support services and valid registration in the mining industry and the latter are concerned with the employment of foreign nationals.

Officially the case between the government and Aisha Huan was discontinued after the state prosecutor pleaded for its closure in court. The sitting judge also expressed displeasure at the delay in arraigning the case. He also made known his intentions to conclude on the case before the end of the legal year.

Aisha is reported to have stayed in Ghana with forged documents.
